From Friday the 29th of April, the festive mood is on in Flic en Flac. After the official launching of the Mauritius Shopping Fiesta in Bagatelle, La Pirogue Hotel also kicked off the celebration in Flic en Flac by organizing both a cocktail contest and a beach party.

The evening of the contest saw the presence of the beautiful colours and dancers of Carnival of Rio, the foreign press and the participation of Miss England 2012, Miss UK, Miss Lebanon, Miss India and also Miss Reunion.

Six representatives from hotels of the west coast had each concocted an original cocktail to win awesome prizes. The Dinarobin Hotel won the first prize with the Linghen Parma. The contestant received a return ticket to London offered by the MTPA.

The Sands Resort and the Paradise Hotel came out second and third respectively. The first runner up was offered two nights on half board-basis for two people at La Pirogue Hotel, while the second runner up received a visit, and lunch, for two at La Rhumerie Chamarel. All finalists were also given a certificate of participation.

Each contestant had six minutes to make three serves of the same cocktail, which were tasted by the members of the jury who picked the winners according to techniques they used, the look of their cocktail and, of course, its taste.

Between stunning buffets, the swaying of Brazilian dancers and the cocktail contest, the weekend leading up to Carnival of Flic en Flac is definitely happening under the sign of hedonism.
